1. Definitions and application
“Global India Express”, “we”, “us” or “our” means Global India Express Pvt. Ltd. and, where applicable, its authorised agents and forwarding partners. “CourierDelhi” is a service and website operated by Global India Express Pvt. Ltd. “Shipper” means the person or organisation tendering the shipment. “Receiver” means the consignee. “Shipment” means all documents, parcels or goods travelling under one booking, waybill or consignment note.
These terms apply from the time we accept a shipment unless a separate written agreement signed by an authorised company representative states otherwise.
2. Quotations and booking
- Website prices, promotional rates and verbal estimates are indicative until shipment details, dimensions, weight, contents, pickup location and destination are verified.
- A booking is accepted only after operational, documentation, security and serviceability checks.
- Transit estimates are working-day estimates and do not include customs delays, public holidays, remote-area handling or events beyond reasonable control.
3. Chargeable weight and additional charges
Charges are calculated using the higher of actual weight or volumetric weight. Shipments may be reweighed and remeasured by us or the forwarding carrier. The shipper must pay all freight charges and any applicable pickup, fuel, remote-area, oversized, address-correction, storage, return, repacking, duty, tax, customs, inspection or other ancillary charges.
4. Customs, export and import requirements
The shipper authorises Global India Express and its partners to prepare or amend transport and customs documents, select service or commodity codes, appoint customs brokers and take reasonable steps required for carriage and clearance.
- The shipper must provide complete and accurate invoices, KYC documents, declarations, permits, prescriptions and other records requested for the shipment.
- Customs duties, taxes, warehouse charges, penalties and return costs are payable by the shipper or receiver as applicable. If the receiver refuses payment, the shipper remains responsible.
- Customs authorities may inspect, delay, detain, return, destroy or confiscate shipments. We are not responsible for decisions made by customs or regulatory authorities.
5. Prohibited, restricted and unacceptable shipments
The shipper must not tender goods that are illegal, unsafe, prohibited by law, restricted by a carrier, inadequately packed or falsely declared. This includes hazardous or dangerous goods, explosives, illegal drugs, weapons, ammunition, counterfeit goods, currency, bearer instruments, human remains and any item we reasonably believe cannot be transported safely or legally.
Special items such as medicines, food, batteries, liquids, cosmetics, chemicals, jewellery, plants, seeds and commercial goods may require advance approval and supporting documentation. We may refuse, hold, return or surrender an undeclared or prohibited shipment to the relevant authority.
6. Packing, labelling and shipper responsibilities
The shipper is responsible for safe and suitable internal and external packaging, accurate addressing, truthful contents declarations and compliance with all applicable laws. Acceptance of a parcel does not confirm that its packaging or contents comply with every requirement.
7. Inspection and security screening
Global India Express, carriers, customs and government authorities may open, scan and inspect a shipment without prior notice. Repacking may be carried out where reasonably required, and related costs may be charged to the shipper.
8. Delivery and undeliverable shipments
Delivery is made to the address supplied by the shipper and may be completed to a reception desk, mailroom, authorised person or central receiving area. Delivery to certain P.O. boxes or restricted postal locations may not be available.
If the receiver cannot be located, refuses delivery, refuses charges or if the shipment cannot be cleared, the shipment may be held, returned, redirected, disposed of or sold where legally permitted. All resulting charges remain payable by the shipper.
9. Delays and events beyond our control
We use reasonable efforts to meet estimated schedules, but delivery dates are not guaranteed unless expressly agreed in writing. We are not liable for delay or loss caused by customs, government action, weather, natural disaster, war, civil disturbance, industrial action, carrier disruption, flight cancellation, incorrect information, inadequate packing or any event outside reasonable control.
10. Liability and international conventions
Carriage may be subject to the Montreal Convention, Warsaw Convention, CMR or other mandatory national or international rules that limit carrier liability. To the extent permitted by law, liability is limited to direct physical loss of or damage to the shipment and excludes indirect, consequential, commercial or emotional loss, loss of profit and loss caused by delay.
Higher-value protection or shipment insurance may be available on request before booking and may involve additional charges and exclusions.
11. Claims
Claims must be submitted in writing by the authorised shipper as soon as reasonably possible and, unless mandatory law provides otherwise, within three days of delivery or the date the issue became known. The claim must include the waybill, invoice, photographs, packaging evidence, proof of value and any carrier complaint or reference number requested. Failure to preserve the shipment and packaging for inspection may affect the claim.
12. Return, storage and cancellation charges
Where a shipment is cancelled, held or returned after pickup, applicable pickup, processing, airway-bill cancellation, storage, repacking, freight, customs and return charges may be deducted or billed. Indicative pickup charges stated in the existing Global India Express carriage terms are:
| Chargeable weight | Indicative pickup charge |
|---|---|
| Up to 5 kg | ₹500 |
| Above 5 kg to 20 kg | ₹1,000 |
| Above 20 kg to 100 kg | ₹1,500 |
| Above 100 kg | ₹2,000 |
| Above 300 kg | ₹5,000 |
| Above 1,000 kg | ₹8,000 |
| Airway-bill cancellation | ₹300 |
Actual charges may differ depending on location, handling and carrier costs and will be confirmed where possible.
13. Shipper warranties and indemnity
The shipper warrants that all information is accurate, the shipment is properly packed and labelled, all required laws and security procedures have been followed and the person tendering the shipment is authorised to do so. The shipper agrees to indemnify Global India Express against claims, losses, penalties and costs arising from breach of these warranties, prohibited contents, incorrect declarations or non-payment of charges.
14. Routing and subcontracting
The shipper agrees that we may select or change carriers, routes, hubs, intermediate stops, brokers and subcontractors where operationally necessary. Routing may differ from the apparent direct route.
15. Payment
All charges are payable according to the quotation, invoice or booking confirmation. We may withhold delivery, documents or refunds while amounts remain outstanding. Taxes will be applied where required.
16. Website information
We endeavour to keep website content accurate, but rates, transit times, service availability, customs rules and carrier conditions can change without notice. Website content does not replace a confirmed quotation or official customs guidance.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any mandatory law, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in New Delhi, India.
18. Changes and severability
We may revise these terms from time to time. The terms published on the booking date normally apply. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
